The Bard RPG system is built to be genre-agnostic. The design needed reflect this and not lean into any one storytelling theme too strongly. The art in the book bounces between and unites western, fantasy, and sci-fi styles. So instead of trying to emulate all three of these, the layout instead leans into the general idea of storytelling and weaving or building stories.

The outer column of the design is reserved for pulled information that aids the reader in cross-referencing the books rules and mechanics as well as providing flavor or asides to the main text. The red boxes are examples of the spreads topic. I wanted the book to be easy to navigate to reinforce the text with the arrangement of the information.
